Day 17

I was able to get an appointment at Aveda salon to get my hair washed, and they generously added a scalp and shoulder massage. I was nearly moved to tears by how nice it felt.
Aside from my mom washing my hair for me, all prior touch for the past two-plus weeks has been miserable. Picking, scrapping, scrubbing, and then the discomfort of all the nerve endings trying to grow back. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment!
Finally, down to nearly no scabs! The only downside was how hyper-sensitive my new skin was.
On a deeper level, it testifies to the truth that we need to shed all that is old and dead to receive something new. The refining process is uncomfortable and may cause you to wonder if it's worth it, but I promise you, it is. The reward of bearing new fruit is worth the cost.
If you haven't already, I encourage you to listen to the corresponding podcast episode.
Below are the pictures some of the women in the group shared regarding memorials of all that the Lord has done in their lives. It's so neat to listen to the stirring of faith in this episode (Day 17).
It provides real-life examples of what it looks like to walk in faith when you can't see what lies ahead.
I want to leave you with a passage from a book one of the ladies sent to the group.
It was fitting and comforting then, and yet even more profound nearly 8 years later.
"REST WITH ME AWHILE. You have journeyed up a steep, rugged path in recent days. The way ahead is shrouded in uncertainty. Look neither behind you nor before you. Instead, focus your attention on Me, your constant Companion. Trust that I will equip you fully for whatever awaits you on your journey.
I designed time to be a protection for you. You couldn't bear to see all your life at once. Though I am unlimited by time, it is in the present moment that I meet you. Refresh yourself in My company, breathing deep draughts of My Presence. I am with you, watching over you wherever you go."
