Cat Lady
Part 1 of...an unknown number of cat posts.
Let me start by stating that I do not claim to be a “cat person.” To this day, I am still on the fence about how I feel about them. I enjoy their kittens, but it’s a love-hate relationship even then. With that being said...living on a farm in Saskatchewan somehow made me a cat lady. One of the MANY first I encountered in the Land of Living Skies. The number of cats we went through in our yard is alarming. I have a body count but will spare you from the horrifying number. To quote my brother-in-law, Reagan: “cats feed the food chain.” I have come to find this statement incredibly accurate. Unfortunate…but accurate. They make an excellent snack for other animals, and they don’t make the best life choices. Hence the short life span.
My farm cats did strange things to my heart. I declared I didn’t like these slinky creatures, yet I found myself crying an embarrassing number of tears whenever one would die. I blame my strange attachment to these cats on the fact that they were a significant form of my entertainment on the farm for two and a half years. Pathetic? Possibly. But it is the truth, nonetheless. I grew to enjoy MOST of our four-legged mousers genuinely.
Stories of the cat family are coming soon with an abundant amount of photos and videos to accompany.
In the meantime, here are a few pictures. And yes…those are hats...on my cats. I made thanksgiving feast hats for them (2015). More on that story to come.
I already admitted how strange my relationship with them was, so you can’t be surprised by what you read or see from here on out. Deal?
